Four people you know
The team has been stable for years, with the longest tenure going back to 2013. You notice it in the fact that nobody asks for your history twice. All four work in the same rooms on Kasernenstrasse and briefly coordinate the day each morning before the first treatment.
Dr med dent Lorenz Ammann
Dentist and practice owner, working in Herisau since 2011. He treats adults, places implants and carries out the root canal treatments. At weekends he is usually out cycling in the Appenzell hinterland.
Dr med dent Rahel Signer
Dentist, part of the team since 2018 and responsible for children and adolescents. She deliberately sets aside a full half hour for a child's first visit. She also speaks Italian.
Sandra Brunner
Dental hygienist HF, with the practice since 2015. She looks after recall patients and supports periodontitis treatments over many years. Her explanations of brushing technique are unflinchingly honest.
Nadine Koller
Dental assistant and reception, with us since 2013. She manages the appointment calendar, arranges cost approvals and usually still finds a gap for an emergency. Questions about invoices are in the right hands with her.
Qualifications
Verifiable qualifications
We are open about who holds which qualification and which association we belong to. For you that means: clear tariffs, verifiable titles and a route to follow if you are not satisfied with a treatment. All four attend continuing education regularly, usually on Fridays.
Federal dental diploma
Lorenz Ammann and Rahel Signer hold the federal diploma and the cantonal licence to practise. Both are publicly verifiable.
SSO membership
As members of the Swiss Dental Association we invoice according to its tariff. In the event of disagreement, the SSO expert assessment procedure is open to you.
Dental hygienist HF
Sandra Brunner holds a qualification from a college of higher education and works independently in prophylaxis. Recording findings and periodontitis aftercare are her responsibility.
Training practice for dental assistants (Federal VET Diploma)
We are a recognised training practice and support apprentices through to the Federal VET Diploma. They are always supervised by an experienced member of staff.
About us
On the first floor since 2011
When Lorenz Ammann took over the practice in 2011, there were still two treatment chairs here and a film developer in the back room. The patient records were on paper, and some of those people still come today. Sandra Brunner joined in 2015 for prophylaxis, Rahel Signer in 2018 for children and adolescents.
In 2019 we added the third treatment room, and since 2026 we have been working with digital X-rays.
Herisau is big enough for a full calendar and small enough that you run into people again in the village. That is precisely why we treat in a way we would be happy to answer for when we meet at the market on Saturday: no treatment without an explanation and no invoice without prior notice.
